The S&P/ASX200 Index ended Friday’s session with a slight 0.2 percent drop to slow down October’s strong rally so far.
Banks mostly ended higher as Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) grew 2.4 percent, National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) added 1.6 percent,Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) edged 1 percent and Westpac (ASX:WBC) gained 0.6 percent.
Iron ore producers were the main drag as Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) crashed 2.8 percent, BHP Group (ASX:BHP) fell 1.3 percent, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) sank 0.9 percent and Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) dipped 0.4 percent.
‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector in mixed territory Afterpay (ASX:APT) rose 1.1 percent,Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) firmed 0.3 percent despite Westpac dumping 10.7 percent of its stake while Sezzle (ASX:SZL) slid 0.5 percent and Openpay (ASX:OPY) skimmed 0.3 percent.
Emerge Gaming Limited (ASX:EM1) Leading eSports and gaming technology company shot up 36.4 percent on Friday to cap off an impressive week, gaining over 180% after achieving its pre-registration milestone of 3 million users on its MIGGSTER platform on Monday.
Weebit Nano Limited (ASX:WBT)
Development of next generation computer memory technology company WBT surged 26.3 percent after this morning’s positive activities update for Q1 FY21.
Elixir Energy Limited (ASX:EXR)
Mongolian-based oil and gas exploration and development company EXR soared 22.7 percent after its latest strong operations update. The S&P/ASX200 Index fell 0.6 percent on Friday to mark a disappointing 3.9 percent deficit for the week – the worst since April.
Banks ended mixed as Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) edged 1.3 percent, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) grew 0.6 percent and National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) finished flat while and Westpac (ASX:WBC) dipped 0.2 percent and Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) closed 0.9 percent lower.
Iron ore producers were also in mixed territory as Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) surged 4.5 percent and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) charged 1.6 percent while Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) crashed 0.6 percent and BHP Group (ASX:BHP) lost 0.7 percent.
‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector was all under par as Splitit (ASX:SPT) and Sezzle (ASX:SZL) both plummeted 4.5 percent, Openpay (ASX:OPY) and Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) both plunged 4.3 percent and Afterpay (ASX:APT) retreated 2.9 percent.
iCar Asia Limited (ASX:ICQ)
South-east Asia-based number one online car marketplace ICQ surged 31.82 percent on Friday after receiving an acquisition proposal from Autohome Inc. to acquire 100 percent of ICQ’s shares at AUD 0.50 cash per share. ICQ also announced it will drawdown AUD 1 Million of AUD 5 Million loan facility agreement with Catcha Group Pte Ltd.
AnteoTech Limited (ASX:ADO)
Surface chemistry company ADO soared 19.79 percent after releasing its latest quarterly activities report with a very productive quarter and establishing key platforms for growth.
AMP Limited (ASX:AMP)
Leading oz-based wealth management jumped 19.53 percent after receiving an indicative, non-binding, conditional proposal from US-based Ares Management Corporation to acquire 100 percent of AMP’s shares by way of scheme arrangement.

Iron ore miners finished mixed as Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) climbed 1.7 percent, Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) grew 0.8 percent but BHP Group (ASX:BHP) dipped 0.5 percent and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) dumped 0.4 percent.
