The S&P/ASX200 Index slid 0.7 percent as major miners put a drag on the index.
Banks ended mixed as Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) climbed 1.6 percent, National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) added 0.4 percent while Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) sank 1.1 percent, Westpac (ASX:WBC) dipped 0.6 percent and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) lost 0.5 percent.
Iron ore producers performed poorly as Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) dumped 6.4 percent,Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) ditched 3.9 percent, BHP Group (ASX:BHP) retreated 3.4 percent and Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) closed 1 percent lower.
‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector was mostly positive as Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) notched 4.6 percent, OpenPay (ASX:OPY) jumped 3.9 percent, Afterpay (ASX:APT) advanced 1.8 percent, Splitit (ASX:SPT) moved up 0.7 percent while Sezzle (ASX:SZL) crashed 3.4 percent.

The S&P/ASX200 Index firmed 0.4 percent as major miners lifted the index.
Banks were relatively positive as Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) both moved within 0.2 percent, while Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG), National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) and Westpac (ASX:WBC) all traded flat.
Iron ore producers climbed as Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) soared 4 percent, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) recovered 2.1 percent from Friday’s retreat, BHP Group (ASX:BHP) added 1.1 percent while Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) lost 1.6 percent.
‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector was all in the green as Sezzle (ASX:SZL) swung 4.7 percent upwards, Openpay (ASX:OPY) uplifted 3.3 percent, Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) notched 2.6 percent, Splitit (ASX:SPT) grew 2.4 percent and Afterpay (ASX:APT) gained 1.5 percent.
