Friday’s Top 10 Finishers On The ASX

10 ASX Companies That Performed On Top Today - 9 July 2021

The S&P/ASX200 Index slid 0.9 percent on Friday amidst the spread of delta COVID-19 variant across the country.

Major banks saw red as Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) declined 1.9 percent, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) lost 0.9 percent, Westpac (ASX:WBC) cut 0.6 percent, National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) shed 0.5 percent and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) dipped 0.3 percent.

Iron ore producers finished lower as Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) retreated 0.9 percent, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) ditched 0.7 percent, BHP Group (ASX:BHP) lowered 0.4 percent while Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) climbed 0.7 percent.

‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector witnessed bloodshed as Sezzle (ASX:SZL) nosedive 8.5 percent, Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) plummeted 5.5 percent, Afterpay (ASX:APT) and Splitit (ASX:SPT) both plunged 5 percent and Openpay (ASX:OPY) dumped 3.2 percent.

The S&P/ASX200 Index edged 0.2 percent as the Tech sector once again lifted the Index.

Major banks fell behind as and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) dumped 0.7 percent, National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) shed 0.4 percent, Westpac (ASX:WBC) slid 0.3 percent, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) dipped 0.2 percent while Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) added 0.5 percent.

Iron ore producers strengthened overall as BHP Group (ASX:BHP) charged 1.8 percent, Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) climbed 0.7 percent, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) notched 0.1 percent while Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) retreated 1.1 percent.

‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector finished spectacularly as Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) skyrocketed 13.7 percent, Sezzle (ASX:SZL) soared 6.3 percent, Openpay (ASX:OPY) surged 4.3 percent, Afterpay (ASX:APT) jumped 3 percent and Splitit (ASX:SPT) pounced 1.7 percent.

Major banks regained lost ground as Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) rose 1.1 percent, National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) lifted 0.8 percent, Westpac (ASX:WBC) added 0.6 percent, Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) both edged 0.4 percent.

Iron ore producers ended on a high note as Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) boosted 2 percent, Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) uplifted 0.8 percent, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) gained 0.5 percent while BHP Group (ASX:BHP) dipped 0.1 percent.

Iron ore producers finished mixed as Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) dumped 1.4 percent, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) lost 0.6 percent while BHP Group (ASX:BHP) rose 0.8 percent and Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) retreated 0.2 percent.
