The S&P/ASX200 Index edged 0.3 percent as major miners and banks boosted the Index.

Major banks continues to impress as Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) climbed 1.6 percent, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) rose 1.3 percent, Westpac (ASX:WBC) added 0.7 percent, Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) and National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) both charged 0.5 percent.

Iron ore producers finished higher overall as Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) soared 1.9 percent, Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) surged 1 percent, BHP Group (ASX:BHP) lifted 0.8 percent while and Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) dipped 0.2 percent.

‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector saw red as Sezzle (ASX:SZL) nosedived 6.1 percent, Splitit (ASX:SPT) plunged 2.4 percent, Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) plummeted 1.5 percent, Afterpay (ASX:APT) dumped 1.4 percent and Openpay (ASX:OPY) crashed 1 percent.

Major banks rebounded strongly as Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) surged 3.7 percent, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) jumped 1.1 percent, Westpac (ASX:WBC) rose 0.5 percent, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) lifted 0.4 percent and National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) edged 0.2 percent.

Iron ore producers finished mixed as BHP Group (ASX:BHP) soared 2.8 percent, Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) charged 2 percent while Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) retreated 0.9 percent and Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) dipped 0.2 percent.

‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector ended mostly lower as Splitit (ASX:SPT) plunged 5.7 percent, , Openpay (ASX:OPY) dumped 1.4 percent, Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) crashed 1 percent while Sezzle (ASX:SZL) notched 2.8 percent and Afterpay (ASX:APT) grew 1.7 percent.
