The S&P/ASX200 Index traded flat on Tuesday as the sectors cancelled out the losses, particularly the Consumer Staples sector which fell nearly 4 percent.

Major banks ended slightly higher as Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) lost 0.5 percent, National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) dipped 0.1 percent while Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) lifted 0.8 percent, and Westpac (ASX:WBC) charged 0.5 percent and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ) added 0.4 percent.

Iron ore producers continue to impress as Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) notched 1.3 percent, BHP Group (ASX:BHP) jumped 0.6 percent, Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) and Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) both edged 0.1 percent.

‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector reversed all gains as Splitit (ASX:SPT) plummeted 6.1 percent, Sezzle (ASX:SZL) plunged 4.7 percent, Afterpay (ASX:APT) nosedived 4.1 percent, Openpay (ASX:OPY) dumped 3.7 percent and Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) buried 2.7 percent.

Iron ore producers saw red as Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) crashed 1.7 percent, Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) dumped 0.8 percent, BHP Group (ASX:BHP) declined 0.6 percent and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) flatlined.

‘Buy-now, pay-later’ sector ended mostly lower as Afterpay (ASX:APT) plummeted 4.4 percent, Openpay (ASX:OPY) plunged 2.6 percent, Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) buried 2.4 percent, Splitit (ASX:SPT) finished flat while Sezzle (ASX:SZL) rebounded 3 percent.
